Changing your regulatory body in Settings takes effect immediately and updates the entire platform. This is not a cosmetic rename - it changes the content and structure of your compliance tools.
Each regulator has its own set of 25 self-assessment questions, written in the correct inspection language for that framework. CQC providers see questions grounded in the Key Lines of Enquiry. Ofsted providers see questions based on the Social Care Common Inspection Framework (SCCIF) for children's homes. Care Inspectorate providers see questions drawn from the Quality Framework for Adult Care Services in Scotland. The question IDs stay consistent so that audit records remain intact if you ever need to switch.
Every place the app references a compliance domain - the audit form, the inspection dashboard, the compliance score, the evidence pack tabs, the narrative builder - uses the correct domain name for your regulator. A Care Inspectorate provider sees "Wellbeing" and "Staff Team" where a CQC provider sees "Safe" and "Effective".
The one-click evidence pack compiles records from across the platform - incidents, medication, care plans, training, supervisions, handovers - and organises them by domain. The tab labels, export filenames, and CSV headers all reflect your regulator's terminology.
The AI Narrative Builder generates inspection-ready statements from your live compliance data. The prompts are regulator-specific - CQC providers get CQC-framed narratives, Ofsted providers get SCCIF-framed narratives written for children's residential care, and Care Inspectorate providers get narratives grounded in the Scottish Quality Framework. The underlying data is the same - the framing and language changes to match what your inspector expects to read.
The compliance dashboard, sidebar navigation, audit tools, and inspection mode all update automatically. There is nothing to configure beyond choosing your regulatory body once in settings.
Children's residential care has historically been underserved by care management software. Most platforms are designed entirely around CQC - the domains, the language, and the compliance structure are all built for adult social care in England. When a children's home tries to use one of those platforms, they spend their time working around terminology that does not match their regulatory reality.
Ofsted's Social Care Common Inspection Framework uses different inspection areas - Quality of Care, Safeguarding, Education and Development, Health and Wellbeing, and Leadership and Management. Care App's Ofsted mode uses these exact areas throughout: in self-assessments, in the evidence pack, in the narrative builder, and in the compliance dashboard. The self-assessment questions are written against the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the SCCIF, not against CQC's Key Lines of Enquiry.
The Care Inspectorate uses the Quality Framework for Adult Care Services, which organises regulation around five quality themes: Wellbeing, Care and Support, Staff Team, Leadership, and Setting. These reflect a distinct approach to regulation compared to CQC - one that emphasises quality of life, the setting itself, and the team as a whole.
Care App's Care Inspectorate mode adopts this language throughout, with self-assessment questions written in Care Inspectorate terminology and AI narratives framed for self-evaluation documents and annual returns rather than CQC evidence packs.
