What your PAs do in the app

On their own phones, so nothing gets lost in notebooks, texts or WhatsApp.

Daily notes

Write or dictate a note at the end of each shift, so the next PA knows how the day went.

Medication

Record each dose as given, refused or missed, with stock counts. A missed dose is flagged straight away.

Clock in and out

Clock in and out from the phone. The hours become timesheets, so there is no arguing over who worked when.

Their shifts

See the rota on their phone, ask for holiday and offer to swap shifts.

Health records

Food and fluid, sleep, bowel, seizures and vital signs, if you want them recorded.

Handover and messages

Handover notes for the next PA, a team chat for everyone, and private messages to one person.

What you see as the employer

Run your team from your phone or a computer. A family member can do it with you or for you.

The rota in one place

Who is working when, gaps that need cover, and holiday requests to approve.

Hours for payroll

Timesheets from the clock-ins, ready to send to you or your payroll service each month.

Records for your reviews

Notes, medication and incidents in one place, ready to show at your care review or to your direct payments team.

Your PAs' paperwork

Right to work checks, training certificates and DBS details, with reminders before anything runs out.

Who it is for

Anyone employing their own carers, rather than buying care from an agency.

Disabled people employing PAs

You receive a direct payment from your council and employ your own personal assistants.

Families managing a relative's care

A parent, partner or adult child employs the carers and runs the team on their behalf.

Personal health budget holders

Your NHS personal health budget pays for carers you employ yourself.

Small teams

From one or two PAs to a team covering 24 hours. Each PA has their own login.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost if I employ my own PAs?

Half price, permanently. Tick "I employ my own carers" when you sign up and every bill is half price: for example, 5 PAs on the Supported Living edition is £30 + VAT a month instead of £60. The discount covers one person receiving care. Already signed up? Email hello@care-app.uk and we will apply it. How it works.

Can my direct payment pay for it?

It depends on your council and your support plan. Some direct payments teams agree to costs that help you manage your support; ask yours. If they will not, the half price discount still applies.

Does Care App pay my PAs?

No. Care App records the hours your PAs work and turns them into timesheets you can send to your payroll service or use yourself. It does not pay wages or send anything to HMRC.

Can a family member run it for me?

Yes. The person who signs up manages the account and can give other family members a manager login, so you can share the job.

Do my PAs need to download anything?

No app store download. PAs open app.care-app.uk on their phone, sign in and add it to their home screen, where it works like any other app on iPhone or Android.

Who can see my records?

Only the people you give a login to. You decide who has access and can remove a PA's login when they leave. Private messages can only be read by the two people in them.
