Quick answer. There is no single best care management software for every UK provider. For home care, Birdie and CareLineLive are popular, well-reviewed choices. For care homes, Person Centred Software and Nourish are widely used for care records, and CoolCare for the business side. Access Care Planning suits organisations already using Access Group products. Care App puts care records, rota, pay preparation and invoicing in one system with published per-user prices, for small and medium providers across every setting. This guide sets out what each does, what it costs from public sources, and who it suits.
We make Care App, so read this guide knowing that. We have tried to be fair: every fact about another supplier below comes from its own website or a public price list, checked in October 2026, and we say plainly where another product is the better fit. If you spot anything out of date, email hello@care-app.uk and we will correct it.

Birdie is a home care platform with care plans, eMAR, rotas, invoicing with multi-payer support, pay run data, QR or geo check-in and a family app, and it is well rated by its users. Its price is based on the hours of care you schedule, starting from £200 a month excluding VAT across four plans, with a minimum monthly fee and fixed terms you cannot cancel during. Suits: domiciliary agencies wanting an established home care app. Care App vs Birdie.
CareLineLive is an all-in-one home care system that publishes its prices: £8.10 per carer per month for scheduling, invoicing and payroll without the carer app, £19.70 with carers using their own phones, or £45 with managed phones, a £120 monthly minimum, onboarding up to £300 and contracts typically for 12 months. It includes care plans, eMAR, split billing, a free family portal and GP Connect, and does not charge for office users. Suits: home care agencies wanting published prices and GP Connect. Care App vs CareLineLive.
Nourish is an established care records system for care homes and home care, with rostering, invoicing and payroll for home care through its Empower product. Prices are not on its website but its G-Cloud 15 document lists Better Care at £3.00 per bed per week (minimum £1,350 a year) and Better Care at Home at £0.20 per hour of care rostered (minimum £160 a month). Incident reporting, CQC tools, family sharing and eLearning are paid add-ons, and its terms renew for 12 months at a time. Suits: care home groups and agencies wanting a long-established supplier. Care App vs Nourish.
Person Centred Software (PCS, formerly Mobile Care Monitoring) is one of the most widely used care records systems in UK care homes, with GP Connect and a place on the NHS Assured Solutions list. eMAR, training (PCS Learn) and the family app are separate products, and rostering, payroll and billing come through a partner. Prices are per bed, after a demo. Suits: care homes for which NHS integrations matter now. Care App vs Person Centred Software.
Access Care Planning, formerly Mobizio, is The Access Group's care records product, with GP Connect and an offline carer app. Rostering, payroll and billing are a separate product, Access People Planner. Its pricing page shows price on application with a one-time implementation fee; its G-Cloud 14 public-sector list gives about £10.49 to £11.86 per active employee per month, invoiced yearly in advance, with implementation from £720. Suits: larger organisations already using Access products. Care App vs Access Care Planning.
Log my Care has a free Starter plan for up to 10 service users for logging care. Care plans and incident follow-up need its Pro plan, priced per active service user with no charge for staff (quotes we have seen range from about £16 per client a month on a larger service to £150 a month for a 3-client supported living service, most likely including add-ons), and rostering, eMAR and the family app are add-ons. Its rota exports to CSV for payroll; we could not find invoicing. Its terms allow monthly contracts, though providers tell us they are tied into fixed contracts. Suits: very small services that only need to log care. Care App vs Log my Care.
CoolCare is back-office software for care homes: occupancy, resident invoicing, rotas, time and attendance with fob or biometric clocking, and recruitment. It links to separate systems for care planning, such as Person Centred Software or Nourish. Prices are not published. Suits: care home groups that mainly need occupancy and finance tools. Care App vs CoolCare.
Care App puts care plans, eMAR, daily notes, incidents and CQC evidence in the same system as the rota, timesheets, pay preparation and invoicing, including split billing for supported living. It has editions for supported living, domiciliary, residential, nursing, learning disability and mental health services. Every price is published: from £10 per user per month on Starter and £12 on care setting editions, cheaper per user as you grow, with no setup fee, monthly with 1 month's notice, and a free month to try it. It does not yet have GP Connect or a place on the NHS Assured Solutions list. Suits: small and medium providers who want one system and clear prices. See every price.
