Add a ready-made set of care plan sections and risk assessments for your type of care, then complete them for each person.
For managers
Starter templates give you headings and prompts for care plan sections and risk assessments. They are added to your template library. Nothing goes on a client's record until you choose a template while writing their plan or assessment.
Add the starter templates
- Find the Starter templates panel. It appears on the Write a care plan step of the dashboard setup tracker, and on a client's Care Plans or Risk Assessments tab while it is empty.
- Under Type of care, choose the closest match: Residential care, Home care, Supported living, Learning disability, Mental health or Nursing.
- Press Add starter templates.
- You will see how many care plan sections and risk assessments were added.
Use a template in a care plan
- Open the client, go to the Care Plans tab and press New Care Plan.
- Under Add a section from a template, open Choose a template and pick one.
- An empty section is added, labelled "From template". The prompts show as hints in each box.
- Write this person's own need, goal and support in each box.
Use a template in a risk assessment
- On the client's Risk Assessments tab, press New Assessment.
- Under Start from a template, choose a template.
- The title, category and hazard rows are filled in with suggested scores. Change them to fit the person.
Good to know
- Templates are a starting point, not a finished plan. Inspectors expect each plan to describe the individual.
- Once you use a template, the plan or assessment is an ordinary record you can edit.
- Adding the same set twice does nothing. You will see "These starter templates are already in your library."
- Only senior managers can add starter templates. Team leaders and staff see a note asking a manager to add them.
