What Care App saves on your phone when you lose signal, and how to make sure it all reaches the office.

For carers

If you lose signal while Care App is open, you can keep working. Clock-ins and clock-outs, care notes, medication records, checklists, tasks, health logs and incident reports are saved on your phone. They upload by themselves when you get signal back.

Before you go somewhere with poor signal

  1. Open Care App while you still have signal. It cannot open from scratch with no signal.
  2. Open the screens you will need, such as the client's profile and the visit screen. Screens you have not opened may not load until you have signal.

While you have no signal

  1. Carry on recording as normal. Most pages show a banner: "You are offline. Clock-ins, notes and logs are saved on this device", with how many are waiting.
  2. Tap each button once. The screen may not change after you clock in or out until your phone is back online. Do not tap again, or you may record it twice.
  3. If you need to report a missed visit or that you cannot get in, the app saves the report and tells you to phone the office. Phone them straight away.

When your signal comes back

  1. Keep Care App open. It sends saved items in the order you made them.
  2. You will see "Syncing ... saved while offline", then "All offline changes have synced."
  3. Check your timesheet and notes look right. Tell your manager if anything is missing.

Do not clear your browser data or uninstall the app until everything has synced. Anything not yet sent is stored on your phone and would be lost.
